MelaMatik Transpennine Harps: Trek China Fundraising Concert
Raising money for Trek China, a fundraising event for the Yorkshire Cancer Centre, a truly amazing harp, song and early music event is happening on Saturday the 19th of June 2010 at Ian Clough Hall, Baildon, between 7.30 and 9.30pm.
Perfomers include Tamsin Dearnley who will be playing classical and folk harp (who is also peforming at the Melamatik Harp Recital & Demonstration at the Bradford Playhouse on Saturday the 12th of June), plus Rowena Thornton and Patrick Herring - Schumann lieder, Andee Craig on Celtic harp, and early music courtesy of Stanhoppe's Musicke. The This wonderful event is organised by Transpennine Harps who are a branch of the Clarsach society (Clarsach the Gaelic word for small harp, also known as the Celtic Harp).
Transpennine Harps aims to promote and encourage harp playing in individuals of all ages. It has members from all over the North of England including West Yorkshire, Scarborough and Sheffield. The group comprises members of all abilities and backgrounds. It arranges workshops and concerts as well as social events. Harp Hire If you’ve thought about learning to play the small harp but don’t want to take the plunge of buying your own instrument until you’ve had a go, Transpennine Harps has a small number of Clarsachs which it rents out to beginners of any age.
